Pros

Developers, team leads, and QA team are talented people and great to work with Dedicated ScrumMasters and test case managers allow teams to focus on their work without many impediments Salary is one of the best in the area Annual parties can be fun... if your manager allows you to participate Very little accountability, so a minimal amount of effort is required to stay employed Marketing team is well-staffed and has exceptional leadership by LP standards Laptops are not issued to most web development employees, so working from home on evenings and weekends is very rare

Cons

Most interaction outside of your immediate Scrum team is unbearable Wide range of talent and motivation within the product team. Since there is little to no accountability for bad product work, dev teams have to work with whatever they are given (and take the fall when the product ends up not hitting stakeholder expectations) Health benefits have poor coverage and are incredibly expensive (well over $1k per month for a family) The amount of overhead from web development management and architects slows projects, requires a lot of arbitrary rework, and hurts the team morale Wen dev management will occasionally demand shortcuts to move up the launch date of projects but will then rely on the development team to support features and tools that don't work reliably in perpetuity. The team is supporting 10-year-old tools that run critical business functions, randomizing developers on a regular basis I was regularly asked to lie to senior management about the status of projects Some web dev managers often have inappropriate conversations with employees in-person and via email. When reported to HR, even with email documentation, little is done to alleviate the situation The web dev department has a hard time retaining women, who (when actually hired) have typically not been treated with the same respect as male counterparts Developers are packed into small rooms/cubicles like sardines, which I can't imagine met fire code Time clock, little PTO, poor holiday schedule, terrible parking, bad coffee, cheap lighting within workspaces, very old chairs and desks, few meeting rooms Senior management has been known to fall asleep in meetings and makes presentations very awkward
