Pros

I absolutely love my job, and it's not a position that's available at a lot of hospitals nationwide. I am well-respected in my department and feel like I hit the lottery regarding my manager. Good Samaritan in particular has a very relaxed but professional, family-like culture. Coming from the for-profit end of healthcare, I appreciate Legacy's values as a NFP and especially as compared to Catholic hospitals in the area whose service offerings are limited by their non-evidence based beliefs, and who are notably absent from community events such as the yearly Pride parade. Benefits are excellent, at least compared to for-profit clinics, which are my background.

Cons

Big hospital systems come with lots of red tape and delays in getting things accomplished. I've had some information systems requests take as long as 14 months to get completed. Having a manager who's willing to go to bat for you helps though.

Pros

You get decent health insurance,

Cons

Miniscule yearly raises even when workload increases due to changes from management to increase revenue, no employer match on retirement account for a year then slow vesting, patient demographic, gossip and bickering among employees, etc.
