Pros

-Very good health benefits (which holds many people captive after they've stopped caring about their jobs or been discriminated against) -International Travel Opportunities (I wish this was a total pro, but in practice it is more like corporate-sponsored peer pressure to party in a foreign city, which has led to dangerous incidents) - Gym membership and flexibility to take workout time during the day - Unlimited time off (AKA no one else has any obligation to come in and do their part) - Office location is great (If you can get any work done while others are partying/daydrinking in common space)

Cons

-If you're not socially active in the Lose It! community, which is mostly focused on drinking and partying, you are less respected in the workplace. The team's preferred social scene involves spending a lot of money, which creates a clear have and have-not divide. -The "boys club" from other peoples reviews sits back and calls all the shots, but does very little work. They start happy hour at 3, take liberal time off, or just don't show up to work, while others feel immense pressure to meet goals without any support. -I have actually been in meetings where the now-CEO has been openly swiping on dating apps instead of paying attention. I have also witnessed senior employees sleeping at their desks. - There is no HR, so none of these cons even matter to management. They also do not really have an active board, so 3rd party input is nonexistent. - No HR also means that slurs, racial jokes, and stereoptyping is rampant. Good luck getting anything done if you are female, let alone not white or straight. Unless you're sleeping with one of the white, straight, men, of course.

Lose It! Response

At Lose It! we like to get together to celebrate the work we’ve accomplished and better get to know each other. The intent of this is to include all team members and we didn’t realize this norm might add financial or social pressure for employees when it extends beyond the office hours. Thank you for the feedback; we will take it into advisement as we look forward to getting back to the office. Your subsequent comments are of particular concern; we have a dedicated HR resource that can be reached at HR@loseit.com and would appreciate you reaching out to provide more context so we can address this properly.

Pros

Lots of independence and control over work that makes a difference in the lives of millions of people

Cons

A little under resourced for how much we try to do. Could use a few more hires to do more

Pros

The biggest pro at this company is its transparency. From my experience, unless a question would violates someone's privacy, there is no question that will not receive a direct answer. It helps give me insight into what's going on in with the company big picture and gives me a sense of trust that the exec team is looking out for me. The company has amazing benefits. Since there are no investors to satisfy, Lose It! can focus on the two things that are most important: its users and its employees. And it shows with the amazing health care plan and the summer retreats to other countries (seriously... no other company does that) and too many other benefits to list here. The company is growing unlike other startups. With a focused, purpose-driven growth model, we have a controlled growth that allows for new hires to come in and have a more direct impact on the millions of users we are trying to help.

Cons

We did have some growing pains in the company culture as we grew from a small team into the company we have today. We're still working through those issues but I think the exec team has taken major efforts over the past year to eliminate those issues. Some of these issues have been noted in other reviews and I think they are being addressed. As I mentioned in the pros section, one of my favorite things about the company is its transparency. So if you are considering joining Lose It! and any reviews here are giving you pause, please don't dismiss us immediately. I encourage you to speak to us and ask the hard questions because we want to answer them.
