Pros

There honestly aren’t any that come to mind.

Cons

Please, if you are considering a call center specialist position with the credit union, I urge you to stay far away. I left this job months ago and still have anxiety from working this position. The culture in the call center is terrible— rude and controlling management, standoffish leads who make you dread calling Helpline, and RUDE members who will call you every name in the book and you are expected to carry on as if it never happened. The call volumes are incredibly high and you are expected to do so much in one phone call, from verification, to assessing the member’s problem, to cross selling a credit union product, etc. The training for all that we are expected to do is severely lacking, as is the pay. The pay is low, the schedule sucks (you have to work one late night shift a week, one early shift, and every third Saturday). I really think the call center is the scum of the company and everyone treats you like so. The turnover is extremely high and they hire anyone who applies because they honestly don’t care. I’m so grateful I got out. This was genuinely the most miserable time of my life.

Thank you for sharing your experience. We’re sorry to hear your time with us was difficult, and we appreciate your honest feedback. Our Call Center team plays a vital role in delivering superior service to our members, and we deeply value the dedication and hard work of our employees. We recognize the demands of the role and its critical impact on our success. We strive to provide balance for our employees throughout the workday, and our availability goals support this. Serving the members and our community are essential aspects of our Credit Union. There are several departments that have a variety of scheduling options to support members and employees in different ways. One of the driving factors for members’ selection for a Financial Institution is convenience. Members regularly comment on choosing to do business with MSUFCU based on being open and available for them when others were not. When an employee is scheduled to work on a Saturday, they are scheduled a day off within the week, to maintain a 5-day schedule and support work life balance. We are committed to supporting our employees with the tools, resources, and a positive environment needed to succeed. We ensure managers and team leads are available for guidance, and we encourage open communication through leadership, HR, and through our open-door policy. We continue to enhance our training programs and resources to help set employees up for success and navigate complex calls. In addition to our robust benefits offerings, we also offer an Employee Assistance Program to support mental health and well-being. Lastly, we complete an annual compensation analysis to ensure our wages are competitive to the market. This has resulted in an increase in wages across a variety of our roles including our Call Center team. Thank you again for your feedback and contributions. Your insights help us improve the experience for both our team and members.

Pros

Working at MSUFCU has been an incredibly rewarding experience. The work is fast-paced, innovative, and always evolving which keeps every day exciting. Leadership is forward thinking and truly invests in employees through AMAZING benefits, education and growth opportunities, and a strong focus on work-life balance. Having an onsite cafe at the headquarters, a workout facility and coworkers who genuinely feel like family make it an even better place to work. I hope to retire from here as it's the best job that I've had.

Cons

fast-paced with new projects all the time

Pros

Amazing co workers, great benefits, inclusive workplace for those with disabilities

Cons

You will only have a good experience if you get into specific areas of the credit union. Other places will burn you out and ruin your mental health completely no matter how much you communicate with management. Pay raises are small and it is almost impossible to get a raise outside of the yearly. And getting a promotion is even more difficult.
