Pros

• Wonderful colleagues who are passionate and collaborative • Strong mission (initially) and the opportunity to work with libraries • Engaging projects that makes a difference in communities

Cons

• The company's mission shifted drastically around last year, moving away from its original purpose • leadership focuses on their own interests and disregards employee satisfaction or well-being • Feedback is not welcomed. Sharing concerns is taken as a personal attack instead of an opportunity to improve the workplace • Diversity is promoted in words, but not in practice; leadership lacks any real diversity (almost entirely older white leadership) • Employees are underpaid compared to the market; hiring practices prioritize "cultural fit" based on social media rather than professional qualifications • Education and experience are not valued; subject-matter experts are dismissed and not treated with respect • Speaking up often jeopardizes job security, creating a culture of fear rather than trust • Management operates under preconceived assumptions; no matter how well you perform, you are still judged by bias rather than merit • Reporting harassment or mistreatment to HR is ineffective. Employees are advised to change roles or departments instead of addressing the problematic managers. The root cause is ignored, protecting wrongdoers while punishing or pushing out hardworking employees

Pros

The benefits, particularly the thrift plan, are good for as long as they still exist. The employees are generally smart and caring people.

Cons

Upper management is neither good nor trustworthy. To go into details would most likely violate this website's TOS. Trust them not to tell you the truth, trust them to blame you if they can save themselves for another year. Any stories you've heard about a great place to work are based on old data. That company no longer exists. While layoffs have always been a threat, employees are constantly on edge now and having the CEO tell them if they want to stay on they shouldn't make trouble does not help, to say the least If you get hired here, understand that this cannot be a long term destination. Get your experience, have an exit plan, don't get comfortable and fade into mediocrity because that is your future, and that's if you are lucky. I just want to add that everything the other reviews say about the president is true. He absolutely did mock employee responses to an opinion survey at a town hall.
