Pros
Get to go home every night. It is not a travel environment. The benefits package is ok and the company still picks a major portion of it. The core group of people have been together for over a decade which is uncommon. However because of this, they are very inflexible to change and the company is suffering for that since this group controls the key to the IT. Also since the core group has been together thru the almost death of the previous company (which was bought by Odyssey), they are very afraid to make the drastric architectural changes needed with the PM and Dev groups in order to meet the needs in the new marketplace.
Cons
The leadership does not listen to employees. There is no long range plan of how IT is to support the business in order to be better in marketplace. The focus is on providing point solutions and not how that that solution fits into the overall picture of the company's business plan. For example there are plans on what the next platform will look like but not plans on how to try to tie the various departments together in order to reduce the amount of manual work that has to be done moving information from the sales department to the accounting department. From the contracts management department to operations. Sales doesn't have visibility into which contracts are going to expire nor does the commerical group have a repeatable process in order to notify sales the these particular contracts are approaching the expiration window.
