Pros
Swinerton is a very old company. The people are generally older and the culture is very old. A lot of people who work in corporate have been working at Swinerton for a long time because it is a very stress-free work-place. Most managers are very understanding and people come to work and go home on a regular schedule. It is a very stable company, even in hard times. If you are looking for a career at a company that will allow you to come in at 8:00 and leave at 5:00 on a very regular basis, not stress about work when you leave and have no work to do when you get home, this is the place.
Cons
With it's stress-free environment also comes very little challenges - I mean real, enhance your abilities, challenges. Most things move at a very slow pace. There is very little room for advancement in all groups unless someone leaves, which rarely happens. Pay is on the low-end of the spectrum, with the benefit of being with a stable company supposed to make you feel better. Management is lacking vision for the future. Within corporate, the vision is supporting whatever the executives want. Very little innovation starts from the non-construction end of the company. People at the executive level are very detached in what goes on with their employees. Because this is construction, the executive's main goal is making our banking partners and sureties feel that Swinerton is a stable and well-off company. If you are looking for something challenging to grow your abilities, this is not that place.
