Pros
Some good people are still around, the rest have left. They did not furlough us without pay at Christmas in 2022.
Cons
Micromanagement by Chairman of the Board is causing low morale and lack of motivation among employees that remain. Return to office (RTO) policy is a draconian edict from the Chairman– they are actually tracking badge scans, even for exempt employees, with zero flexibility. If you take a half day PTO, you still have to badge in at the office. Exception is if you have Covid – if you have Covid, you are welcome to work from home! Otherwise, it’s two strikes and you’re out (you’re fired) if you don’t badge in to an office and are not on approved PTO. Some of the Vertiv responses to comments here about the RTO policy are laughable. Tracking badge scans helps ensure employee safety??? Transition can be difficult??? Really? Lots of talk lately about being a high performance company – without clarity on what that looks like and what needs to change. Most tech companies that have been around for a while were promoting high performance cultures 25 years ago. Vertiv appears to think this is a new concept, and doesn’t seem to have any clue on how to effect cultural change. In fact, executive leadership seems to think that following Chairman Dave Cote back to the 1980’s is the way to go. Very high attrition continues since mid-2022, leaving those that remain to clean up the mess. Churn at the executive and middle management levels continue. Not uncommon for managers to talk over, stifle and demean people in meetings, including their own direct reports. Poor training and communication on systems and tools. Salaries are meh, and merit raises are small when they are given. Unlike other tech companies or even other companies in the area, here are no bonus or incentive programs for the majority of employees – only given at certain levels and above. Benefits are mediocre. 401k match is minimal.
