Pros

You will acquire skills depending upon which group you end up in. If you are in the firmware team then you will learn only if you interact with the core architects in CA. If you are in the windows driver team then may God help you :). But you will learn if you are in the linux driver team.

Cons

No professional growth. Engineers have stuck there for 10+ years and only know FC. They struggle even with basic Ethernet stuff. Don't expect any recognition. Beware, level-2 and level-1 management has a knack of spinning engineers ideas and presenting it to the upper management! It has happened to quite a few folks. Jeff Benck(new COO) has changed a lot. Kudos to Jeff !!

Pros

Worked with some of the best educated managers with network systems.

Cons

Not a very relaxed environment. Kind of ghost like in a huge building where no one talked to each other.

Pros

The benefits are fairly good at Emulex. The facilities are pretty well taken care of and IT is on top of most issues. The organization is pretty well-oiled and seems to be able to handle multiple geographical locations well. Generally, engineers are pretty able and dependable. The experience level is high with most engineers in the 8+ year range.

Cons

Management is driven by how amicable engineers are too them. There seems to be way too much leeway given to certain employees while others are held to a different standard or nitpicked. This inconsistency is noticed by engineers and it does affect morale. The higher experience and seniority level means that there is not much chance of career growth unless one looks for it elsewhere.
