Pros

used to have a strong sense of teamwork but now everything is uncertain.

Cons

new management upheaval creates chaos in the field. No comp plans/quotas for 4 months into a new year. We have faltered out of the gate under brand new management. That does not bode well for a successful future.

Pros

The company is stable and mature, with a lot of support available if you know how to find it and make your case. Work/life balance is fairly each to achieve - by no means is Emulex a "grind" to work at. Keeping 9 to 5 hours is not uncommon here. There are many employees who have been here 20+ years. Benefits package is fairly generous, especially the 401k plan.

Cons

The conservative nature of the company culture makes innovation and risk-taking difficult sometimes. The company is very top-heavy with many VPs and Directors around, even though they may only manage a handful of staff. Fiefdoms are common since the company grew largely through acquisitions and maintains numerous locations throughout the US and internationally.

Pros

Friendly working environment. Good development processes and documentation. Surprisingly successful.

Cons

The cashcow that is HBA sales will soon come to an end and there is nothing else in the pipeline. Weird pre-employment health screen - what if I wasn't healthy enough? Below average compensation. Cancels projects left and right. SW talent is terrible. Cross-site collaboration is dysfunctional and devolves into turf wars. Everything is tightly controlled by Costa Mesa - think Big Brother.
