Our affiliation positioned us to be more strategic in the market and more comprehensive for our policyholders as we can now offer even better products and services. We do recruit the top talent and reward high-performing associates through our Gainshare Program, but we encourage all associates to speak with their managers or HR if individual expectations are unrealistic.

Retirement match is very good, pay seems on par with what I'd expect, There are some really good people that work here, some of which are in management. If the company can survive the current state of extreme change, it may have the infrastructure to succeed.

Cons

Some areas are understaffed and extremely overworked. The turnover in those areas is quite high, but the problems aren't being addressed, the positions are just being backfilled. Focus is on producing results, not on improving processes. Manager to associate ratio seems high. Need more people actually doing the work. Still haven't realized benefits from merger of Motorists and Brickstreet. It feels like nearly every major system is being overhauled. I'm concerned that the existing management team cannot effectively leverage the benefits from improved infrastructure. Some seem to be more effective than others though.

We closely monitor associate turnover trends so we can address them accordingly. During 2020, we remained consistent with 7% turnover, with no one area having unusually high turnover. To best serve our customers, we have to leverage and invest in cutting-edge technology. We understand this may at times cause change and disruption, but we believe it will make us a stronger organization in the long run. Feedback and new ideas for improving processes are welcome at Encova, and we encourage you to discuss your concerns with your manager or Human Resources.

Work life balance. Employees were nice to work with.

Cons

Lack of direction for future of company. They haven’t made money in years. They have lack of care for their employees. They are a company that buys smaller companies. Takes their business and then runs the little company into the ground. Not someone I would want to work for again.

Financially, 2018 was an exceptional year with operating results better than planned. We care deeply for our associates and recently made changes to our associate handbook based on their feedback. This included a more relaxed dress code and the addition of paid parental and paid family caregiver leave. While we have grown through an affiliation model, our affiliations have extended our footprint and made us stronger as one company.
