Pros

Great team members and culture

Cons

If you’re looking for good medical benefits- this is not the place to work. Would rather work short staffed than safe New management is ruining the culture Pay differential taken away for a majority of nurses Pay changes seem to be poorly thought out Opportunities seem to be reserved for who gets along with management Bad communication even though there are so many meetings Poor merit increases

Pros

There is nothing good to say about it at all! Just avoid it

Cons

4 South Searle is a toxic environment and unsafe place for new grads to work. The bullying and lack of support I experienced there were beyond words. My preceptors were TERRIBLE. What they put me through is unforgettable and unforgivable. One of them yelled at me every single day, failed to teach effectively, and showed constant disrespect. It was like they were trying to push me to quit. Having nurses like this as preceptors is not only unfair but dangerous for new nurses. I also witnessed this same preceptor disrespecting patients, particularly those who were more difficult to care for. She would speak poorly about them the moment she left their room STAY AWAY AND SAVE YOUR LICENSE

Pros

The pay scales meet or exceed market rate.

Cons

Very poor work/life balance - Extremely poor hiring decisions for management/supervisors the last few years obviously made for convenience rather than long term planning, managers are hired with little to no expernce in the industry, non-profit accounting or even healthcare and they predictably get frustraited, angry and make very poor management decisions related to deadlines, requirements and general employee supervision, someone experinced can lay out the obvious direction and answer it's ignored - There is a major office politics issue and grudges by former employees of NCH related to being acquired by Northshore around a decade ago before becoming Endeavor Health and they make things difficult for coworkers, for example it's a small thing but I asked a new office mate after the office moves for a pen "oh no, I don't have one", well where the heck are they, is there like a pen factory in the neighborhood, maybe I could go get some from their company store, or possibly a supply closet in the office? Because I really don't want to bring in my own office supplies and equipment, because I've watched that happen here, including 2 employees that were forced to bring their own personal laptop from home to company financial system training because they had never been issued one. What the heck is that except resentment? - Management's mindset is so stuck in the 1970's or 80's they didn't even give people realistic modern solutions for remote or office sharing at other company locations using modern technology when they shut down the Evanston HQ's, the only conclusion one can draw is they wasn't as many people to quit on their own as possible because it's cheaper than eliminating positions. - Also, a lot of managers are so fake in front of their supervisors and will tear you down when no one else is present. - The insurance plans offered to employee's are terrible, they're expensive, have massive deductibles and most years I never even meet the minimum out of pocket, which is a surprise considering it's a healthcare company.
