Pros

1. Relaxed work atmosphere 2. Opportunity to gain hands on experience 3. Perks 4. Vacation Policy 5. Location 6. Exposure to a variety of different technology platforms 7. Analytically oriented culture 9. Bright individuals Enova will let you learn by the fire. If you take advantage of it, you will come out of here with powerful knowledge on mostly how not to do things. Working here will also expose you an exceedingly diverse cohort of intellectual dispositions. You will meet brilliant people. You will also meet unfathomably incompetent people.

Cons

1. Highly political corporate structure 2. Rampant nepotism 3. Legacy employee entrenchment 4. Clout heavy promotional process 5. Incompetent leadership 6. Poor career growth in non engineering/business facing units During the early days of the company you would have been presented with great opportunities to really make a difference- The caveat is that you will find your position/departmental structure/managerial structure constantly moving under your feet. If you crave structure and consistency this is not the company for you. Change is good, but too much change is also bad. Most of the changes occurring within the company are due to poor leadership structure.

Pros

• Great location • Smart peers

Cons

• High level restructuring happens at least twice a year. This destroys whatever camaraderie that was built up. • Short term goals of hitting arbitrary targets over doing the best job. Giving ourselves a pat on the back even if the numbers aren't good for the company (but they hit our targets!) • Little to no technical direction. Are we migrating off legacy? Who cares! Upper management sure doesn't anymore. • Losing employee perks every month.

Good Time's Gone

Pros

Good office space in a convenient location in the loop. Trains to the suburbs are just a few blocks away. There's often food from meetings to grab in the kitchen. There are still lots of smart people around to learn from. Work hours are flexible.

Cons

The office culture was driven but casual when I joined. Since then, the company got larger, and senior management has forgotten what made the company successful. It's getting harder to get promoted, which is terrible for the young people who join us. And since we're getting bigger, the only way to make a big difference is to get "cherry-picked" into a cutting-edge project. The pace is still aggressive, but perks are disappearing every week it seems. Pay is average for the industry, but bonuses are getting smaller. Even worse, they (and raises) are mostly determined by how popular you are with your manager and managers from other departments. Finally, executives and senior management keep making big promises about positive new things, but they rarely deliver, and they've stopped listening to the complaints.
