Pros

Training is solid. Pay is fair, decent benefit package.

Cons

I'm 6 weeks into the job and I spend more time creating tickets with IT than I do with production, then get reprimanded for not enough production.

Thank you for providing this feedback. You’ve put your finger on a key issue that needs to be addressed. I am sorry that you have been dealing with this issue, but I am happy to report that we have recently made significant expansions to our IT management team and we are also standing up new systems and processes to better support remote employees. I am pleased to hear that you found the training to be solid and that both the pay and benefits are working for you as well. I regret that even when we get your IT issue resolved, this one-star rating will still be here. It’s good for prospective associates to have these reviews so that they can effectively evaluate their options, but I would like to encourage you to use our escalation channels before you resort to posting on Glassdoor. 6 weeks is an extremely long amount of time to be dealing with an IT issue. Please know that if you are dealing with an issue that takes more than a day or two to resolve, you can escalate to your supervisor, manager or director. If after 3-4 days you still don’t have resolution you can escalate to the VP level or even to directly to me: ShareWithShannon@Ensemble.com. We’ll find a way. We’ll solve the problem. Thank you again for the feedback.

Pros

Some of the best things about Ensemble is the growth opportunities, the co-workers, and learning opportunities.

Cons

Some downsides of Ensemble are that the company is starting to become very top heavy, the benefits have become to expensive, there are no raises for S.M.A.R.T.s and they are expected to train new hires on systems that they themselves haven't been trained on. The S.M.A.R.Ts are expected to keep up with so many things for nothing in return. It feels like the upper leadership doesn't really care for what we have to say when it comes to certain things (process, systems).

Thank you for this feedback. It’s true, we have added significantly to our leadership team in this past year, but the vast majority of the over 1,000 new associates that have recently joined us are front-line operators. Our goal is to create and promote our leaders from within as much as possible. What Ensemble is bringing to healthcare providers is both powerful and unique and in order to scale what makes us special we need to invest in the development of our staff so that they can grow and lead the associates that we hire to support our growing list of partners. I am very proud that our internal promotion rate is nearly 25% higher than industry benchmarks. The SMART mentoring program was one of the systems we put in place to help with that. It is designed to work in conjunction with our RCM training courses, Leader In Training program, Career Pathways, Readiness Profiles and Stakeholder Maps. It’s also totally voluntary - something our associates elect to do to expand their experience and grow as individuals. With that said, if you believe there is room to improve our training, I want to look very closely at that. We use regular training, refreshers and certifications to make sure that all our associates are able to operate as the best in the business, but we are also quickly developing new technologies to push the edge of what is possible in our industry. Occasionally, training lags behind and I appreciate this reminder to double our efforts to make sure our associates can make the best use of all our new technologies. As for systems and processes, we are driving dozens of parallel initiatives to support our scaling operation. Ideas and feedback from our associates are at the center of all of them. We make an effort to report on progress for these initiatives, but truthfully visibility could be better. Our focus has been on delivery and resolution. I will look at how we can drive better visibility for how we are empowering our associate voices and putting their ideas into motion. Thank you again for the feedback.

Pros

Compensation and fulfilling client work

Cons

Leadership is more interested in appearances than actual substantive, meaningful work that creates value for clients. Given the choice between time spent pushing forward on client deliverables or useless reports that will go unread and ultimately fade into Outlook’s trashbin, Ensemble leadership will always choose busywork. I’m judged on my ability to get my direct reports to buy into creating this trash, instead of doing their day jobs. I’m actively interviewing to go back to Conifer.

I have to admit you’re raising a good point here. I fully recognize that we spend a significant amount of time generating reports. It has been a key way for us to stay on top of our client delivery and essential in ensuring continuance of our 100% client satisfaction. However, It has become clear lately that we have outgrown our initial reporting strategy. I am happy to say that we have been working to respond to voices sharing feedback like yours. We are launching an internal reporting dashboard that will allow stakeholders self-serve access to the data they need, which will offload (much of) the burden of reporting from our revenue cycle leaders. We are grateful for our leaders who continue to step up as we deal with exponential growth. I am sorry to hear you are seeking to go back to Conifer. I would like to recommend that you check out the 2019 Klas report on revenue cycle outsourcing before you pull the chute. Conifer scored second lowest of all the vendors measured in terms of overall client satisfaction. They also score lowest on both Indeed and Glassdoor. There is a reason over 60% of all full outsourcing contracts in the U.S. went Ensemble between 2018 and 2019. If you want to be a part of a company that is growing as fast as Uber (and the opportunities that come with it), you may need to give it more time than “less than a year.” And you may want to use more/different feedback channels before you throw your hands up. We need your voice to help us grow. Trust me, I’d rather respond to you in my inbox than on Glassdoor. My door is still open: ShareWithShannon@EnsembleHP.com.
