Robotic personalities permeate the DI “culture.” If you enjoy genuine human interaction, seek employment elsewhere. Management team is hellbent on acquisitions of smaller/niche software and data companies to fill in strategic gaps. This comes as exciting news to the DI network, but results in more anxiety and confusion for acquired companies and subsequent integrations. On multiple occasions I encountered discrepancies in my take-home pay versus what DI calculated to pay me in commission reviews. For any sales or biz dev professional, this is a big red flag.

Thanks for the advice to management because it gives us the opportunity to talk about what we are doing. We are not declining in culture and we have the data to support it - engagement and employee happiness is at an all time high (keep in mind its a metric we measure). You are right though we have lost some good people and we are proud of it. Why? Well we like to think about those that leave graduating from DI and moving on to further their careers. I can list numerous individual sales reps that have moved on into Director or VP roles at companies. We are insanely proud of that. In terms of being hellbent on acquistions, we are customer centric and align our acquisition strategy to the needs of the industry. If you look at our latest acquisitions they were done because the market almost demanded it. The combination of companies makes for a much better offering to achieve company objectives. We will not downplay how important that can be for our customers. I am not really sure to address a ‘robotic culture’. This company and this industry is anything but robotic. I am sure there are people within an organization the scale of DI that can, at times, present themselves that way but our culture is around genuine care for people - both internal and external.

Pros

Working at DrillingInfo really does bring out the best in you. If you surround yourself with greatness it naturally rubs off. The product is best in class, it feels like a family in the Austin office, and the people work harder than anywhere else.

Cons

With the high growth environment sometimes employees take on too much. I believe the root cause is due to employees truly caring for the well being of the DrillingInfo family.
