- The pay is good - Some very smart coworkers - Decent job to learn software development basics - Epic is the overall best company in its industry
Cons
- The decision-making process is terrible, lots of politics and infighting, and no clear rules or decision makers, even while management pretends that everyone gets along 100% perfectly. Management also often adheres to vague platitudes like "do the right thing" and sets unrealistic expectations. Think 1984 + Lord of the flies. - Outdated technology is mirrored by obsolete HR practices such as a complete lack of transparency and very limited working from home (until covid hit). - Middle management doesn't do enough to ensure that the right processes are followed to get the right results. This is often because they have weak technical skills. - Some people are very aggressive, which is tolerated and even encouraged. - General lack of professionalism (everyone does everything their own way).
