Pros

Very interesting business. Flexible hours. Talented people. This is a great company for the first 5 years of your career after college.

Cons

Archaic management that favores politics. Mount people against each others. Directors behave like parents and treat employees like children. There is no career plan or career management. Managers have no management training. Creativity is going down. Managers steal ideas with no shame. Company culture is going down. Esri is privately owned with the owner/CEO getting close to 70. Key directors are over 60. People who are telling the emperor that is not naked are rewarded.

Pros

Gorgeous campus (with a turtle pond!), great benefits package, and an intelligent community of employees working around an exciting product.

Cons

Management is largely unsupportive of employee growth and creativity. The exempt/non-exempt distinction between employees creates a demoralizing division, with non-exempt employees under a very strict schedule & managerial babysitting, and exempt employees free to largely determine their own schedules. Tenure at the company far outweighs job performance & industry expertise. Marketing strategies are decrepit and rigid, abd management is not open to incorporation of new ideas. Ample criticism for even minor errors that don't affect productivity & NO positive reinforcement for successes.

Pros

Esri, has been great. Non-toxic environment. Free healthcare (not the best healthcare but it's free). Hourly, which means, you can work OT when required or needed. Options to work remote. Beautiful Redlands office.

Cons

This is hard, I do love working for ESRI, but their pay is just way below average. If their pay was average then the turn over rate would lower. The cost of living has skyrocketed and they're not keeping up with the times. So... If I leave I'll have to deal with public companies that don't care about you but you'll make more, if I stay I'll get to enjoy non-toxic environment, and work and life balance. It's hard, because every month I have a mortgage payment.
