Pros
My favorite part of this job is my colleagues and some of the training classes I've joined.
Cons
1. They say people first as they take away benefits. Sick leave policy was abruptly changed with very little heads up, no HR folks to even talk about any changes with, further education refunds are only approved for literal college courses now (not certifications or the FE/PE for engineers). 2. They say diversity is a top priority but continue moving white men up within the company, seeming to prefer ex-linemen for management positions. 3. Several management positions are held by either micro-managers or the opposite; so you never see them/hear from them or know where you stand. 4. My position has been fully remote for the past year, we're now required to go back 3 days a week when we've been doing fine remotely. This will begin in late August, but they've required we return vehicles now. So we are now all in and out of the office all day to get vehicles, seems to be a way to try and lure more people back early. 5. Good 'ol boy system 6. Many programs in the company are using the same training material from 10+ years ago, get ready for old style powerpoints reused yearly at safety meetings. Also havent redone training materials for my program, so I study and test on things that are no longer relevant. 6. I cant tell you the number of sexist comments I've overheard. 7. The same position in different cities within the company will do vastly different things. No real SOP's, people that work with us often comment about how different working with one city is versus another. 8. Recent rollout of programs not well tested, one new program requires internet explorer which died years ago.
