Extreme shortage of manpower. A management team deliberately downsizing the workforce to the point where 60-70 hour workweeks have become the norm. Work-life balance is nonexistent with far too much mandatory OT. Haven't slept in 56 hours??? Too bad, it rained and we haven't done anything for 40 years to maintain our system. A terrible safety culture where serious injuries are far higher than industry averages and deemed "the cost of doing business." Sound like a disgruntled employee? Correct, along with the few remaining linemen that are left. The company puts profit in front of everything they do and we are treated as you would expect...only worse. There is an exodus of senior linemen (15+ yrs.) leaving, as management pops champagne. The company knows morale is low and continues to drive it lower, with contractors being the go-to solution.
