Pros

EwingCole is a wonderful company filled with talented people and inspiring leaders. The pay is competitive, and the Raleigh office has exceptional leadership in healthcare, design, and interiors. This leadership is a key reason I enjoy working here. The firm’s investment in our new office and materials library has elevated our environment. We are consistently supported with strong technology, resources, and standards that help us deliver our best work. I also appreciate the associate initiatives and mentorship program because they help me feel connected with other offices.

Cons

It pains me to say this, but the environment in the Raleigh office has become so hostile that it is nearly unbearable. If not for the three individuals I mentioned above, I fear that most of the staff would have already left. The current management has created an atmosphere filled with fear, negativity, and petty resentment. Management frequently, rudely and loudly disparages some of our strongest performers, as well as corporate firm leadership and even principals from Philadelphia and Charlotte, all in open conversations with office staff. It is shocking to hear office management speak so negatively about other offices, the CEO, and our practice leaders. It is obvious that much of the staff and discipline leadership avoid interacting with management whenever possible. Conversations among employees often focus on their desire to leave because of poor management, which should never be the norm. Unfortunately, this negative attitude has extended beyond internal conversations and has affected projects with current, past clients and consultants. We can hear all of these shocking remarks in our open office. Many people are afraid to discuss these problems openly, especially following the recent layoffs. Management has also made threatening remarks about employees behind their backs to other staff, which only deepens the fear of honesty.
