Pros

The ability to have such a direct impact on the outgoing software, and the ability to work on projects that can help grow the company are huge benefits. As a growing company, we are small enough that everyone knows everyone else, and there is a real sense of community. Nobody is scared to bring up new ideas in meetings, or take on projects that they may initially know little or nothing about. Everyone is always available to help everyone else, and there isn't a sense that some employees are better or more important than others. We all have our roles to play, and it isn't uncommon for a developer to ask a support person for assistance, or vice versa. There is a tremendous opportunity to learn in this environment and to grow your career into what works best for the company, and for you as an individual. Employee feedback is taken very seriously, and as a result of some recent feedback, one of the offices now offers a free gym membership to all active employees. Birthday parties are always a thing to be celebrated, and half the time on holiday's you wouldn't even know you're going to "work" with things like pot luck lunches, secret Santa, or board games. There is a huge mix of talents and backgrounds in the company, and that in addition to everything mentioned above makes this a great place to work, and a great group of people to work with.

Cons

As a small company, some of the extra benefits such as healthcare are a bit expensive, but that is almost unavoidable at this point anyway, and the company does the best that they can to try to offset some of those costs to the employees.

Pros

You learn as part of a team, you work as part of a team, and a you are hands on with newer hires as they join the team. Exago has all the pieces in place for success, and the people you work with are there to help make that happen. Management is accessible and honest when dealing with its employees.

Cons

The product and the field for those with a non-technical background make getting momentum as a new employee a slow process. Getting started doesn't have very much structure so getting direction can be tough, but it does go hand in hand with the internal motto of, "Be your own CEO." I think it's fair to say that this would be the case in almost any new environment though, and can't directly attribute that to this company.

Thanks very much for the feedback especially in regards to the integration into the company. We are in the process of rolling out an on-boarding program that we anticipate will make the learning curve easier for the next round of Exago entrepreneurs.

Pros

The people are the best part: supportive, familial, passionate, and helpful. Everyone knows how important communication is here, and encourage it always! Flexibility and independence are also key to our working environment, our CEO wants our small stage company to be 'just like our software!' That is to say, comfortable and workable for everyone involved.

Cons

Hardworking colleagues are great for morale and motivation! But, be careful to balance work life with personal life. It can sometimes feel like you are forced stay late, because others are still there long after the day is done. Exago is an understanding company! Get your work done, that's all that's really important.

Thank you for taking the time to write the review. It's an interesting point you make. We do try and make it clear that from the companies perspective, you should balance work and your personal life. Our motto, 'you are your own CEO' gives you the ability to determine what that balance is. The fact that some of our colleagues choose to work long hours is entirely their choice and we don't want to discourage that. Maybe the answer is to clearly and continually emphasize that the balancing act is in each individuals control. .
