Pros

You can work as many hours as you want. Unlimited overtime. Really rewarding work if you put your heart into it. These are incredible people you get a chance to help.

Cons

The kind of work you will be doing as a DSP varies considerably between residential sites. Some individuals may need a large amount of support (meal prep, hygiene, etc) and some may just need transportation, but the pay is the same Because the agency (and the human services field in general) is understaffed, there is a large amount of pressure to work overtime. In my time there, I often felt I was judged as an employee not on the quality of my work but on the number of hours I picked up.

Pros

Really fun work environment, great coworkers , the relationships built with clients are truly life changing, there is a lot of training - but it is all paid

Cons

Lots of pressure put on by supervisors to work over time, you have to put a lot of miles on your car (though mileage is reimbursed)

Pros

Unlimited overtime, Wonderful person's served, lots of opportunity to meet new and exciting people from all back grounds, can be very easy work depending on sites

Cons

Terrible program managers and directors with some exceptions, communication is awful from the top down, you will be called to work on every weekend you have off, very difficult to take personal time and vacation, always short on staff, high turnover rate
