Unfortunately for some, you have to do your job in compliance with our standards. You cannot be late, let alone repeatedly. If dropping your canines leash causes it to false sit, then do not do it. And you have to comply with SOPs. No you do not call in an unattended item by radio leaning over it. You cannot be lazy. If numerous sites request you not come back, well But for those former Military Working Dog Handlers, that will take what you are doing seriously, and can conduct yourself as a professional, we are the best. Working here was recently described as a mirror. If you are awesome, we are awesome. If you are a POS, we put on and wear the B Badge proudly!

Pros

The only pros I can give are a company vehicle and canine taking care of by company.

Cons

If you are looking for full time job where you make 40 hours a week then Memphis is not for you. Any chance at over time is non existent compared to DC. Two shifts are 8 hour shifts and the other two hour shifts are 7 hour shifts. You do work one Saturday where you make up 4 hours but still does not equal up to a 40 hour work week. You are expected to use your canine care to get your extra 2.5 hours. Training is also terrible and very limited on where you can train without IRS personal complaining. The 3 same training areas are used and after awhile it becomes very complacent.

Alas, Memphis, no idea what happens out there. It may be something in the BBQ. It is true, once fully manned up the only opportunity for overtime is conducting off site training with local PD, TSA, Military bases. And since we require at least 2 days a month getting on someone else kit, away from the site it should be considered easy and fun OT. Our teams elsewhere love getting together with other agencies. I was, am at a loss as to why the Memphis teams did not want to train with outside agencies? I am just not willing to pay OT for onsite training that is also conducted during operations. And the pay was increased to equate to the money that was being made when down a team and everyone was in overtime. Sorry you were so unhappy. I did address all issues called to my attention, which is why everyone got a pay raise when we got fully manned.

Pros

Knowledgeable, professional staff and management.  Good benefits and pay. Expert trainers and training available daily!  Working here you are a team member of a unit consisting of other professionals in the canine field.  Good comaraderie, easy money!  Great job to consider if you are looking to continue service through the protection of others.

Cons

Negativity few and far between
