Pros

I believe I could be great at this position. I enjoy meeting the guests and the team I am building is getting better by the day.

Cons

I get chided weekly if not more often for things I have no control over: our grab n go breakfast, which is something to "grab and GO", the fact that we have no elevator, the fact that some people find our beds uncomfortable, the fact that doors slam at night because it is a hotel, not a private residence...all these things lead to people giving us low scores which I then get blamed for. I can't fix those things; I wish I could. I am the "Assistant," yet my manager calls me to ask what to do in situations and leaves difficult tasks like removing unsavory people from the hotel and disciplining employees entirely up to me. As in, she will leave it over my days off until I come back to take care of. It's beyond frustrating as well that every time an employee calls out of a shift, I am called in. Every. Time.

Pros

None. There are no pros to working for Extended Stay America, unless, you enjoy working for a second rate, inferior quality company.

Cons

Everything. Poor quality hotels, low pay, poor quality training, poor quality leadership by individuals brought in from outside the hospitality industry.

Pros

Decent pay and good management

Cons

The team did not work together. No one would wash the laundry throughout the day like they were supposed to so the night laundry's job was a lot harder.
