Hotel Manager

Pros

There's not much pros to write about.

Cons

Managers are told they won't have to do front desk shifts. This is in fact a lie. You might end up doing two shifts a day, and multiple times a week for many weeks. No help or support from management. Expected to improve business, but they don't want to spend money on improvements, or even fixing basic items. To fix basic items, you have to put in a work order with corporate, that might not get looked at because it's too expensive to fix, or upper management doesn't approve. District Manager holds weekly meetings, but doesn't bother visiting properties and addressing issues.

P & L Mentality

Pros

Hotel is managed on P & L mentality, squeeze every last ounce of juice to make P. Competitive ambitious District Managers don't help. They are driven by their bonus.

Cons

It is pressure from top down, the bottom level gets all the flack, clean more rooms, clean faster, and pass audit. Failure is not an option. Never mind it is a pet friendly hotel, a lot of pet hairs.

Pros

Good vacation benefits the longer you are there.

Cons

Senior leadership completely disconnected from the hotel level, no clue, forever changing. Staff overworked, no thank you. Expectation non existent. Don’t expect to move up, they do not “grow their own”
