Pros

Honestly , the only pros is meeting nice guests from around the world . Unfortunately having "nice" interactions while working at this company is not quite common. For all the grunt work that you do , the only benefit is that it will look really nice on your resume that you were able to manage 120 room hotel by yourself for 7+ hours.

Cons

It is a ship that has holes in the bottoms of its belly , that has been pushed to go on a 6 month voyage. Corporate cuts back on renovations and supplies which leaves you as the GSR to get the end of the stick when it comes to complaints about the property you work for. You weae multiple hats , not only are you the Guest Representative , but you are the maintenance , the porter , the housekeeping , when the 9-5 staff is gone you are completely on your own. What an embarrassment it is when you have to run dishes to five different rooms and when you arrive back to front desk. there are almost 7 irate guests waiting to be checked in or to pass you their dirty towels in exchange for freshly washed ones with permanent unknown yellowish stains . Everyone who works there have no idea what teamwork is , and it shows at the end of the day you handle the complaints , the requests , the billings , and again the Complaints! I find it nagging as well , that after your work shift is over , you are treated like an on call staff member , questions that management and staff have to ask you , could be simply answered by reading a well detailed communication log left for the next shift is bypassed . So you are expected to pick up their phone calls whenever they please , not considering the fact , that you are a part time employee, have a life and oh! another job????! The foundation all the way to the top of management is foul , the policies , and the procedures are a joke.

Pros

Medical benefits were great. Loved the long term guests.

Cons

As many others have stated: no work/life balance, unrealistic expectations, workload was heavy. I could do one or two of the requirements really well and then I was failing at the rest, or I could have done a mediocre job with everything. Either way, I was never successful. It wasn't for lack of effort! For the General Manager to be the acting manager for each department they need a really strong, knowledgeable team. The sales goals were not effective use of time and the labor model was insane. They take desperate people who want a foot in the door at the opportunity to be a GM or AGM and they drive those individuals into the ground. The 10% that make it they refer to as "over-achievers" and those individuals have traded in their quality of life to be married to a job.

No growth for women

Pros

Only a stepping stone for very basic training- Property managers have no time for training-most are looking for new jobs

Cons

To many- High turnover, low pay & Woman are discriminated against and many law suits have been or are in process of being filed. Women don't get promoted even after 10 years of great service. The company is ran by "consultants" that report to executes that have no idea what HM's and teams have to deal with. Managers cant even order items needed without approval of 2-3 executives. HIGHLY UNORGANIZED and uncaring. RUN & RUN FAST
