Pros

overall modest work hours, flexible, stress free, friendly, competent bosses, modest commute time if you live in the area, work/family balance

Cons

Pay in the investment area below average. Career path unknown. 2% pay raises implemented in 2011, well after the worst of the recession. No bonus structure which further exasperates pay discrepancy.

Pros

The work life balance at FBL Financial Group Inc. was excellent in terms of very little over-time. Opportunities for professional development are a plus and the company will contribute to the costs at a fairly high percentage. The culture is fairly laid back and there is a fair amount of interaction between the management and employees.

Cons

Compensation and benefits are on the lower end. Vacation is particularly lacking considering the lower level of base pay. The bonus system is measured on a company basis instead of by department, which distances employees from an actual goal and instead seems like a random occurrence.
