Pros

Excellent customer focus. Great benefits. Great team based on which team you work for. Great balance between work and personal life. Fair Isaac seems to have enough recurring revenue to support a lot of employee initiatives and growth opportunities for the company. However, these opportunities must be chosen carefully.

Cons

It is one of the few profitable companies in this market. Interesting to see management focus on cost cutting even further than to grow. This was my first big company job and I am not used to the bureaucracy of big companies so my comments should be taken with a grain of salt. Individual achivements are lost in the herd, management busy protecting their behinds, and complacency is preferred over an attitude for growth.

Pros

Fair Isaac is struggling at the moment and still fighting their way through a tough market and some bad decisions in the past. But I believe that they are making good decisions. And they were more than fair in how they dealt with people in the RIF. Overall, good people, good benefits, good reputation with customers.

Cons

Not all of the different product groups have the same level of professionalism. Lots of broken procedures or lack of procedures from one group to the next.

Pros

Access to cutting edge technology and a leader in its industry. Increasingly becoming a global company with non-US revenues growing strongly. Flexible working environment and provides a good work/life balance particularly for parents.

Cons

A very highly centralised company. Decision making tends to occur in Minneapolis to address local issues and then get pushed out globally with little input from other regions in the US or globally. A very top down company that is poor at explaining its strategy to lower levels of management. There is very little delegation in decision making, budget setting and planning which is strange for a company so top heavy with managers.
