Pros

Nice employees who are all in the same boat as you. Made some good friends. Standard benefits.

Cons

Toxic management who fail upward. Management set unrealistic timelines, then blame others when they fail to be met. Once those unrealistic expectations aren’t met it’s common to hear said management yelling and screaming at employees in public spaces. Management will also demand you work after hours, calling you at home, or even while on vacation. Yet, same management seem to be rewarded, and given promotion after promotion for this behavior. It’s extremely disheartening hearing your friends and coworkers being verbally abused. Management will regularly badmouth employees to other employees behind their backs, critiquing their work, calling them lazy. Meanwhile, management are not the most technically knowledgeable. Documentation is HORRIBLE! Engineers are expected to develop software based on documentation, so they’ll code according to what’s written only to be told that it’s wrong and made to redo it, often having to put in extra hours. Meanwhile, some managers seem to take pride in their documentation abilities, thinking they’re flawless. But if you try to explain why the documentation is wrong you’re frequently berated and made to feel stupid. Owner is a nice guy, but he’s a salesman, not a technical guy. He often flaunts his wealth while paying his employees the bare minimum. Expect to be trashed when you eventually decide to leave. The management will act nice to your face, asking what they can do to keep you, and encouraging you to come back if you want to. But as soon as you’re out the door they’ll trash you and your work to other employees openly, thinking that it won’t get back to you. Very few opportunities for growth.
