Pros

There are no real pros...Just a bunch of promises, that are never realized!

Cons

The sales division is not a place that I would recommend; maybe the other side is better. My experience at Farmers was one that I would not wish on any one. As a Hispanic male I experienced a lot of under toned racism. The unprofessionalism is one that is acceptable, there are maybe two minorities in positions of District manager the rest are white males. No Hispanics, no African American, no Chinese... No minorities, those that were hired never make it through the whole program...I wonder why? It’s because it’s a good ole boy network and minorities are not welcomed!!! No matter how hard you work...you won’t make it in the ranks; they will make up reasons why you did not get a district. The whole agent process is a scam. They get any one on the street with a pulse that and promise them that they can run an agency. If the person sais that they would like to come on board they charge them to take a background check that cost almost $70, of which Farmers gets a cut. They than signed them up for an online training some district provide a three day crash course and set them loose in the community to reek havoc. Now, poor customers are trusting individuals with days of training with their most expensive assets like their: Car, homes, life insurance and businesses…Beware, these agents do not have any training to help secure your assets. Most of the times these agent are so desperate for a sale they will tell you anything. Farmers does not give them any pay until they have sold 44 policies which takes many between 3-9 months to do because their rates are so bad. The company does this because they expect most of the agents to starve themselves out of the program but they still get to keep what ever business those agents put on the books. Good trade right, no pay, no time really invested into the agents but written business for the company… In a total of one month each district interview maybe 30-40 people in hopes of running 5-7 background checks at close to $70 dollars a pop; with hope of maybe getting 2-4 people to sign up to be agents each month. The expectation is that maybe 6 of them will convert to a career or full time agent. It’s a pyramid scheme!

Pros

if you don't want your job "off shored" like the other companies I have worked, this is the place to work. they have "great" benefits

Cons

They have great benefits "IF" you can survive there. if you don't have a bachelors degree, look somewhere else. they are degree heavy and that is a rite of passage just to get hired.
