Pros

The work was easy at first, training was simple and the employees are great. Things seemed to change a lot in the 2 years I worked there.

Cons

The job can be a bit stressful when you get behind, the management are only there to evaluate you an not really help you, promotions are based on your numbers and if your numbers are bad it could take all year to get them back to par, they change your supervisor often and it becomes a different job under a new supervisor.

Pros

The pay seems to be higher than other insuance companies and they give you a decent amount of vacation and days off during the year. They compensate you with a company car and the option to work from home.

Cons

Insurance jobs are constantly changing. It is difficult to stay on top of your workload and take the various training courses. The workload is heavy and the customers always seem to be upset. This is a high stress job if you cannot disconnec at the end of your workday, then this job is not for you. There is rarely a chance to actually think in this job. You are basically a messnger and 90% of the time you are delivering bad news. With the way they want you to process these claims, when you deliver this bad news you are in someone's house. I have been kicked out of several residences because of this.

Pros

Independence, freedom to set your own hours and schedule and being your own boss are the biggest pluses. As an independent contractor you set most if not all of your goals for sales. Very nice, if you have competitive rates...

Cons

Very high rates for starters (certainly in IL anyway). The new agent contract effective May 1, 2009 is also very demanding. Be sure to carefully consider all its limitations and constrictions before signing! In short, the contract has ghanged for agents (and not for the better).
