      If you are becoming an agent, be sure to have a stockpile of cash as you won't be bringing a check home for awhile.

      Pros

      As an agent, you set your own schedule and your business goals. You can operate under a limited of oversight and control your own destiny.

      Cons

      As an agent, be prepared to make little or no money for the first couple of years until you get your book of business established. Also be wary of life production requirements as that's really all that the company cares about.

      Pros

      Opportunity to grow and make money, and open up your office, if you can do it that is.

      Cons

      The training, was primarily getting your licenses.. If your not selling you can find your self in debt. Unless senior agent drops out of the face of the world, your dealing with a crappy "book." It's really competitive environment, the team work is limited.

      Pros

      There are none if you're a reserve agent.

      Cons

      As a reserve agent if you fail you are required to pay back all subsidy you recieved, so basically the company has no real investment in you. Their outlay is paid back if you fail and realized in agency profit if you succeed.
