Pros

They have a decent 401k, and a nation wide recognized brand. Paid holidays and standard 2 weeks for PTO. Great vending machines.

Cons

The entire IT staff and infrastructure is outsourced (as in vendor owned data centers), soup to nuts. I’m IT Very few full time staff outside of Director level or you are a project manager. What this means is very few people in the entire IT organization have any idea about some of the most foundational pieces of engineering, Sys Admin, or Developer Operations. To build on this you get vendors running the show, giving estimates, and even placing their own people in executive roles which, I can’t see how is not a conflict of interest. More over their architectural decisions are and continue to be questionable, at best. If you are interviewing for IT all you have to do is ask, don’t take my word for it. The short, if you want to practice your skills doing power points and being a good project manager, this is the place for you, but if you really want to do meaningful engineering work, I would say hard pass!

Rhetoric does not match reality

Pros

Good work-life balance and other benefits on paper. PTO days and 401k matching is par for the industry but good compared to outside the industry. People are generally nice. This is not a bad place to work if you want to cruise to retirement and are fine with 3% annual raises and so-so annual bonuses.

Cons

Benefits: Health insurance premiums and deductibles are high. Dental benefits are almost non-existent. HSA, FSA, etc. options are very difficult to navigate with little support from HR. Work-life balance rhetoric conflicts with reality of workloads. Inclusion/Diversity/Advancement Opportunities: This is just a mess and all rhetoric . In reality, "inclusion" means token clubs for employees, time consuming "training," and measures imposed by a class action settlement. The result is that women and other diverse employees are mentored (so managers can tout their professional development pet projects) but not advanced. "Behavior based" internal interviewing processes includes a farcical pre-interview promotional campaign. Work Environment: The company continues to move away from virtual / flexible arrangements towards face time requirements in open office (noisy cube) environments.

Pros

Company car with free gas and 3000 personal miles per year, yearly bonuses, great coworkers. Get to meet cool people, see different cars and houses. Schedule your own claims. 100 percent 401k match at 6%.

Cons

Expensive Medical coverage plans with high deductibles. Upper Management does not value the input of the Adjusters. A ton of phone calls, high volume of claims, high turnover. I worked on the homeowners and auto side of the business and they are deliberately understaffing to keep costs down. This in turn creates more work for you as an adjuster. Great career for someone who is willing to dedictaed their every waking hour to solving other people problems. Plenty of overtime available due to understaffing which causes you to have limited time with family. No work life balance. Hard to take pto because someone has to cover your claims and work when your out and vis versa.
