This could be a GREAT company, but................
Pros
People you work with are fantastic. Hours are generally consistent, as well as the schedule. There is so much to learn (this will also be a con). I constantly learn new things, and in general the customers are good when they are not willfully ignorant. I feel like I'm part of a team. I feel like if I can ignore the general negativity I feel from my upper management, I can successfully navigate this into a career.....at least for a while.
Cons
As in all retail jobs, the customers can be an incredible downer, but FedEx Office occupies a niche where most customers are either incredibly ignorant of technology or have unrealistic expectations. Be ready for this if you want to work here! The company in general suffers an identity crisis: not sure if we are a printer, or retailer, or shipper, or...everything? Management does not know how to manage team members with regard to our identity, so we are constantly shown "the accountability stick" as a form of motivation. It doesn't work folks, and I'll tell ya, we are getting tired of it. We are operations people in the stores, and management attempts to hold us to sales metrics like its our fault print jobs and pack and ships aren't coming in the door. Also, there is an incredible amount of information to absorb. I mean, a ridiculous amount of information. I've seen new team members last 48 hours before they quit because they cannot handle the onslaught of information. Finally, a couple years ago we changed management structure a bit so the district managers have more responsibility. Well, they are now so overwhelmed that they like to threaten us more than reward us. Nice job.
