      Pros

      Very positive environment for employees. Good benefits, telecommuting and flexible hours for some employees, pay is fairly competitive for a non-profit.

      Cons

      Low turnover leads to little opportunity for advancement. Culture does not deal with performance problems and few incentives for high performance.

      Pros

      Lots of technical expertise and resources. There is a real possibility to build and develop detectors. The 5 years contracts allow you to commit to long term projects.

      Cons

      There is an uncanny number of old people that contributes very little. Depressing atmosphere. The lab is committed to be the only single-purpose lab, this makes it difficult to collaborate with universities sometimes.

      Pros

      One of the most unique work places in the world. Maybe not as shiny and slick as industry, but there is stability at the lab that can offset. If you're focused and motivated, this is the place for you. If you just want a job, you may not last too long.

      Cons

      The afore mentioned stability, may also be a con. Some aspects of the lab seem to be stuck in generations gone by, and the workforce needs to move into the new millennium. The lab is making an effort, but has a very long way to go if they want to attract the type of talent that can lead the mission into the future.
