Pros

Huge engineering and technical resources. They still have the technical expertise to build almost anything you can think of. Scientist ussualy have some freedom to choose what projects they want to work on. If the project you are working on gets support from the management you can expect a lot of resouces

Cons

A lot of bureaucracy and paperwork. Lots of the resources are wasted in nonsensical review loops. It's not easy to collaborate, the lab strong;y rewards you if you have "leading role" in the projects you are involved. This may sound ok but in practice it means that you are not acknowledged if you work in a project with other colleges that are your pairs (shared leading role).

Pros

Great environment that attempt to advance in science. People are nice and always ready to talk to you about what they do. Work is laid back and not demanding. Flexible schedule.

Cons

Staff is old. Tools and technologies are old. Takes long to include any new technology, but they are open to hear new ideas.
