Pros

This company cares for its employees, offers great benefits, and support for anything you may need to get the job done.

Cons

It's not always easy to reach people due to the many time zones we operate in.

Has growth potential, but is top-heavy and not enough IC's to actually build.

Pros

Founders have built a great product and are attempting to grow a good culture. They hire hard working and intelligent contributors, and have a vision of where they can see the company going. Its a great industry space to help companies build and deploy physical products that materially can contribute to creating jobs and not destroying them.

Cons

Fictiv is going through the funding trap of hiring many many Director and VP+ people which look great on paper, while not backfilling or hiring out growth positions for IC's who have to implement and do the work. There are new ideas almost every other week and so many meetings which end up being a waste of time - because in two weeks, a new 'major' project will be dictated (and I do mean dictated) from the top. Last year, Fictiv slowed down to focus on what was working, and doubled revenue. They seem to have forgotten that, and are now trying to do everything at once without any actual teams to build things (and losing people). I don't feel like this is going to double again without reigning in the non-founder C-levels and VPs who change processes by dictate that directly impacts comp, and day-to-day work with zero discussion with the teams they impact. Despite what they say, they do not value the input of subject matter experts. They probably need to let the Sr subject matter experts quit, hire mid-level implementers, and eventually trim the strategic bloat after a year of failing to double due to no SMEs. I may be overly pessimistic because during my hire process several things which I was told were going to happen, did not. This is a frequent occurrence on a monthly basis now.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We appreciate and value your input as a Fictor. We are proud of the culture that we are building and strive to provide an inclusive environment where Fictors can do their best work. This includes creating a safe space where all Fictors feel heard and valued. One way we are accomplishing this is by holding quarterly Ask Me Anything sessions with our leadership team. In addition, we are looking into an anonymous employee feedback tool. 2022 has brought major growth to our company, which has meant significant team expansion across every department. Over the past 90 days, Fictiv has hired 50+ employees, 90% of those roles being independent contributor roles. We value all employee levels within our organization. Every Fictor plays a significant role in Fictiv’s success. You mentioned the feeling that our organization is trying to do everything at once. We hear you. This was a learning lesson for us, and we are in the process of adjusting. As mentioned in our Q2 review, Q3 is all about acclimating. Our organization is focused on doing two things well as a team, prioritizing projects and integrating new Fictors. If there were things you were told that were going to happen that we did not deliver on, I encourage you to discuss these concerns with your manager or contact our People Operations department immediately. I am confident that we can work together to find a solution. Your observations and concerns help us better understand how we can improve, and I welcome the chance to discuss them live. Thank you again for your insight. It helps us make Fictiv a better company for everyone. -Director of People Operations
