      A good company for financial services newbies

      Pros

      If you are interested in gaining experience at a large company in Financial Services for your resume, this is the place to start. Fidelity's reputation in the industry even today is solid. The breadth of offerings from Fidelity offers newcomers a range of options for a new job. The Benefits package at Fidelity is fine, not more or less than any other company, but it is all-inclusive.

      Cons

      This is not the place for you if you have ever worked ANYWHERE else where employee treatment was a core value. The company talks a good line but that's as far as it goes. There is no work/life balance, people are not valued, and management hasn't got a clue how the make the environment better.

      Very good company to work for

      Pros

      Very good name recognition. The company has a strong history of performance. A local Boston-area company that has gone national. The profit sharing plan is excellent (10% of base salary), which is on top of the 7% 401(k) company match. Salaries are competitive to the rest of the job market. Overall, a very good company to work for and one I'm proud to be employed by.

      Cons

      In downcycles of the market there are often many rounds of layoffs, so job security can be tenuous. Certain depertments can be highly stressful, and the work culture is one where those who stick to a regular 8 hour day are frowned upon.

      Too much change at the top

      Pros

      Good benefits package. Company was in good shape financially until recently. Friendly people. Involved in lots of charitable orginazations. They have a nice Xmas party and do lots of things for families such as the Big Apple circus and the books fair. If you need to travel for the company, cuh as going to India, they are generous on expenses for the trip. Relocation packaages for people going to NC or Texas were good. Working from home is something that seems to be available to most people. Bi annual meetings with Sr management attempt to give you info about whats going on but they are usually a waste of time.

      Cons

      Little to no room for a promotion. Tiny raises for the masses. No recoginition for doing a good job, unless your a major kiss a.. Poltics and lots of it.
