Talented people, but needs a healthier culture and better planning

Pros

- Exciting product - Great benefits, company pays for almost everything - Free food and snacks - Talented people everywhere with diverse backgrounds - Little micromanagement, tons of freedom as long as you are performing - Dog friendly office - Ability to travel for work around and out of the country

Cons

- Just laid off ~32 people, rumors of more coming - Transparency from management isn’t always consistent - Onboarding is more a data dump on the product rather than training to do your job. Tons of ambiguity towards KPIs and how to properly execute your role - Company culture is unhealthy, sometimes toxic. Stereotypical “Tech Bro” vibe from 70% of the company - Product is generally seen by customers as a short term tool for projects vs a long term solution

Thank you for the feedback you are providing. It's always great when we get input from the team on ways to improve. We agree that we have the potential to be an amazing company. We need to be more aligned as a team on what we are building towards. From an employee perspective, your comments around onboarding and building diverse and cohesive teams are well received. From a product perspective, the management team is actively working on longer-term strategies to solidify our place as a category leader. Expect to hear more about this in Q4 2018.

Excited for what's to come

Pros

The AI and machine learning space that Figure Eight is in is seeing exponential growth, and the market has caught up to our technology. Each day, we're seeing an increasing number of companies dipping their toe, or jumping in completely, into the world of AI and machine learning. To be the gasoline for this engine in providing high quality training data so AI and ML models can be built or revised is powerful. We've had strong growth until now, but we're at the bottom of the hockey stick curve and I'm excited to see where this goes. The office itself is nice, with an open vibe, cubbies, and conference rooms. There's free lunch on most days, and a few decent restaurant options locally. Just don't make a right turn on 6th! The people that work here are smart and capable, and it feels like most of the teams are very well aligned. It's a 'get stuff done' environment.

Cons

This is a transparent and fast-paced company, with an environment not suited for those that need tremendous amounts of structure or hand-holding. Roll up your sleeves and jump in. If that doesn't work for you, then you probably won't want to work here.

One area the management team is specifically working on is what the market needs/desires are for features moving forward. We also agree that the people here are smart and capable. It's a great team here!

Pros

I believe Figure Eight is truly a leader in AI/machine learning space. It is exciting to watch where we are going and hear about the potential we have. Compared to other companies I have worked for, I personally feel the trust and transparency have been a huge positive factor for me. In addition, the company has invested in my growth and given me opportunities I feel lucky to have had. I have been able to expand my background more in the 8 months I've been here than ever before in my career. I am excited to go to work in the morning and I enjoy being around my coworkers. It is a positive work environment where my ideas and opinions are valued and welcomed. I highly recommend this company and can honestly say the best is yet to come!

Cons

The only cons I can say align with any startup/tech/SaaS company that I have worked for. There is an amount of uncertainty of the future when you work for these kinds of companies as it is a lot of trial and error, changes and adaption, and restructures. For me, these can also be positives though since I am not one who thrives in a monotonous work environment.
