When I joined FirstEnergy, morale was high, the company invested in employees, and hard work was recognized. Unfortunately, the culture has shifted dramatically. Leadership turnover in the executive suite has become a constant, with each new leader implementing disruptive changes before quickly moving on.
A recent reorganization into a “Product Model” resulted in a 10% layoff in IT. Months later, leadership is still trying to define how this model will work, leaving some employees — including myself — without direct managers. This uncertainty, coupled with repeated reminders to “cut back,” has created a climate of instability.
Promotions have stalled, career growth opportunities are scarce, and it feels like further layoffs are likely. While the company once prioritized its people, that no longer seems to be the case. Based on my experience, I would not recommend working here.
