Pros

Decent power experience that help you in other industries.

Cons

They will push you to try and sign off on projects that have the potential to harm the plant. A lot of people in management as far as supervisors and managers go in design are "yes men" and don't care at all about their employees. They'll throw you under the bus. They won't fire the corrupt and shady people due to limited loyalty so I'd stay away from this place. Everything is 30 years old including the office. They never clean so be prepared to get sick a lot, I never had allergies until I started working there. The plant goes down a lot so you'll have to give up your weekends and expect no bonus. The incentive bonus program is a sham as you never see it because the nuke sites are always shutting down for something. The pay is low. Morale is always low because they don't even provide the very basics to make any employee happy. Benefits aren't good.

Pros

Stable employment. It appears very hard to be fired. You can be incompetent at your job, but as long as you are good at filling out paperwork, you can't be fired.

Cons

They do not reward high achievement. Even if your supervisor recommends you for promotion, the manager/director will simply look at your years of service, without regard to capabilities or achievement.

Pros

FirstEnergy is a great place for call center experience. Fast paced and opportunities to grow in the different levels of customer service. The availability of information for procedures and regulations on the company intranet site is very resourceful and helpful. Great team members to assist in difficult situations.

Cons

Limited opportunities past the CSR tier III level. Supervisor assistance is available but the procedure required to get to the supervisor can take too long which affects the stats that we are required to attain. Repetitive natures of calls and scripting makes the job very boring and almost unbearable. Verbal attacks from customers can be veracious and degrading. Must be thick skinned and able to let it "run off your back", which is the theme of all the supervisors. As a person who does not accept personal attacks well, biting my tongue was a daily activity. The pay is not worth the insults. Good if you have bills to pay while looking for another job.
