      *pay not the highest, but the benefits make up for it. *The company is going in the right direction--looking to the future to create the best environment for associates & customers. *Done a much better job of ensuring the development of associates. *If you have the drive and capabilities, there is ample opportunity for advancement. *The company is strong & healthy--always moving forward. *They are putting the focus on customers!

      Pros

      great people to work with, customer service is always challenging because customers can come in in a bad mood or just try to get what they want at the price they want it. the real bonus from all the food lions ive ever been at is really with in the people. good products great prices and usually a low loss leader on sales ads. Walmart has to match us constantly!

      Cons

      physical work, long hours, hectic at times like all jobs or careers pretty much overall a relaxed environment based on the store manager you have. they are hit or miss either your best friend or worst enemy if they do anything at all.

      Pros

      Health insurance, 401k, Christmas bonus, and vacations. Pretty fair pay compared to other grocery stores. Outside of front end positions, working in other departments in the store are more favorable. When you have a good store manager it makes all the difference in the world. Good managers know how to get the store working together as a team.

      Cons

      Management for the most part is incompetent, most stores are not run very well. Management seem to focus on very short term goals instead of any large picture at all. Available hours are usually burned up in the beginning of the year and as a result, at the end of the year a lot of hours are cut.
