Pros

Fort Wayne Metals exists to save lives. It was a great motivator to come to work each day with such a strong mission. The owners provided the tools necessary to do my job and trusted me that if I said I needed something, I really needed it. Pay was good.

Cons

The company has experienced tremendous growth in the last several years. The mission may be weakening as more and more people are added.

It’s wonderful to know you had a great experience working at Fort Wayne Metals. We make every effort to build that connection between the work we do (manufacturing precision wire for the medical industry) and its resulting impact in the local community and world at large (saving lives). You felt and lived out that mission by the work you did here, and for that, we’re grateful. Fort Wayne Metals is a place where people are given the tools to keep up with the growing changes that come with our demanding industry, whether that’s supplies, technology, ongoing education or a variety of benefits. We know when our employees have what they need to be successful, the entire organization is successful. A sure sign of any organization’s success is the ability to add new employees. It’s nothing new at Fort Wayne Metals: We’ve grown from nearly 450 employees 10 years ago to more than 1,100 today. Such rapid growth does come with its challenges, but our family-owned organization continues to embrace our core values like “our people are the source of our strength” as well as a strong commitment to preserving a culture which has made us an Employer of Choice.

Pros

Got introduced to QQI programme. 100% of employee contributions paid for by company.

Cons

The company is dominated by a certain clique of individuals who all seem to have a connection with the boss, either a neighbour, a former work colleague or relation. This goes through all levels of the workforce, from management to the shop floor, all other employees are there just to make up the numbers.

Fort Wayne Metals is glad you were able to benefit from our employee contributions and learn more about the QQI program (An effort to promote quality and accountability in education and training services in Ireland). Regarding your other comments, we appreciate your feedback. While the results of our annual employee engagement survey suggest a high level of employee engagement, we remain mindful of our commitment to continuous improvement and will continue to explore how to remain a highly regarded employer.
