Pros

-Some incredibly smart and compassionate employees who truly want to change healthcare -Interesting product -Often forced out of your comfort zone because of home many different areas each employee works in

Cons

-CEO’s ego and arrogance spills over into the leadership. Junior employees whole heartedly care about reforming healthcare while management seems more concerned with how effectively they’re exploiting younger employees under the guise of “mission alignment” -No work from home options -Internal company politics make a lot of the teams very toxic -Unrealistic work hours. They say 40 but will assign 50 and expect 60+ hours a week

Pros

- You will work with some of the smartest people you've ever worked with - You have the opportunity to work in many different areas of the business; lots of opportunity for learning - Opportunity to learn from execs that have held high-profile roles in Silicon Valley - Intriguing software challenges

Cons

Unfortunately, Forward has a deeply toxic work culture. You will be gaslit and expected to give up your life in pursuit of the company's goals. Expectations are not just lofty, they're impossible. There's widespread burnout and employees are paid extremely low salaries which are justified by the pursuit of the company mission. The CEO tells people how to live and is arrogant and belittling. He claims that he's frequently changing his mind based upon good ideas from employees; but at the end of the day what he wants goes no matter what. Employees are mandated to work 5 days per week in the office. Due to this, low salary plus San Francisco living expenses has lead some employees to take second jobs on the weekends. Overall, there are some pros to working there, as with any company. But the cons far, far outweigh the pros. Strongly do not recommend. It's worth noting that it seems like the company may request employees to post good reviews. While I was there new employees were asked to post Glassdoor reviews. One way to tell this is the case is that in some reviews the 'Cons' sections don't actually post cons. They post things like 'building healthcare is hard, it takes a special person to be able to do it' which sounds more like a recruiting pitch than a genuine review.
