Pros

Some people were nice. Other people were nice at first, and then turned into catty bullies.

Cons

Some women I worked with were very catty and would constantly say bad things about me within earshot or right in front of my face. I could hardly concentrate on my work. It's an open floor plan for my past position, so that's how I could hear it all. At first they train you a little, but then they make you do the work very soon, and they are very specific tasks and a very specific program that is hard to use. It's sink or swim. Once you are given your case load, you are expected to work at a constant and frantic pace, while switching constantly between cases and/or tasks and answering work instant messages and emails. Also, the supervisors were gossipy. My supervisor did not even have important instructions written down for some of my tasks; I got them from a co-worker, and then my supervisor asked me to send her a copy. I had told my supervisor and her supervisor that I was having difficulty with the work. They said they would try to move me to a different role. Some time passed, and I got worried because I knew I was still being held accountable for the current work. My supervisor had told me that I needed to work faster. Later, I said that I would resign because the work was not a good fit. Then, I changed my mind and told them I did want to stay. Soon after, I was let go, once my supervisor got the helpful written instructions from me. I don't know why, but I applied to a different position after. The HR woman who had hired me before, left a voicemail on my phone basically saying that I had said I was detail-oriented in my cover note, but that there was a mistake on the dates on my resume, so that showed I was not detail-oriented. This is representative of how you are seen and treated by supervisors at the company. You will be talked to like a child, in terms of respect.

Pros

-Excellent co-workers. Paralegals are bright and Attorneys are brilliant. - Nice office environment.

Cons

- No training. - I began drafting immediately and learned on the go. Eventually I found success in the role but it took a lot of harshly worded critiques on my first drafts for at least the first 3 months. - Consistently expected to work overtime outside of the busy season and had difficulty saying no as the rest of the office until 8 p.m. - 10 p.m. every night. - Work load was so high paralegals would regularly alter the databases and billing projections to show that they had accomplished work that had not yet been completed to avoid being reprimanded. - Was consistently drowning in work due to a huge gap between management and employees. Eventually I was having recurring stress dreams every night and became physically ill. I went to multiple doctors appointments and after $1,000 in medical bills the doctors found nothing to be conclusively wrong. One month after I left Fragomen my symptoms disappeared and have not come back since.
