Pros

-Opportunities for growth and development -Plentiful training -Very structured team organization -Efficient allocation of cases and duties

Cons

-EXTREMELY understaffed to the point that employees are performing double the workload. Very poor work-life balance -Company clearly looks out for its own interests, making it difficult to form any loyalty or attachment to one's position -Lack of internal leadership, as it often feels like the day is spent resolving one emergency after another without any clear insight into future goals or ways to prevent such emergencies -Clients are extremely demanding. This is compounded by the fact that FDBL is unable to deliver on promised timelines due to staffing shortages. This leads to increased tensions between FDBL and the companies, resulting in rushed cases, stress (= lower employee morale), and excessive overtime

Pros

Business casual attire, no issues if you need to come in late or leave early occasionally for a doctor's appointment, very good group of co-workers, most non-attorneys are non-exempt, no billable hours.

Cons

Upper-management is so worried about maintaining their bonuses that they are working the rank and file to the bone. With no new hiring, despite a significant increase in business, there is no opportunity for upward mobility. Also, while the overtime does help to make up for only getting one small raise in the last two years, it would be nice to not feel under constant stress.

Pros

Good and friendly company atmosphere when not hunkered down working like a dog. The pay is better than average, and the benefits are not too bad either. Work hard and more than likely you'll keep your job. Your co-workers are great. Competence is rewarded and team players fit in well. Vacation and time off requests were almost always granted immediately and as requested. Calling in sick was hassle free. Probably one of the best offices I ever worked for. I was extremely impressed with the very high caliber of most of the people I worked with.

Cons

You'll work with good, smart people, but the place turns people paranoid due to the total and overwhelming lack of loyalty shown by upper management for their workers. Don't trust anyone with a higher pay grade. It's extremely cutthroat, and heads roll with regularity. Independent thought is not appreciated, even if it results in a better way of getting something done. Overall, the place is somewhat Orwellian. Entirely too much kissing up to the clients at the expense of the employees, and the clients... good lord, the clients. Between them and your bosses you'll feel like an infantryman in the Russian army. Most of the clients suck but you'll swallow their abuse and smile; otherwise, you're fired. Best advice is to do your time and then move on to better opportunities as soon as your resume's had enough FDBL, as the lifers in the office look worn and haggard.
