      friendly atmosphere

      Pros

      The San Francisco office is insulated so it is hard to generalize the experience because working in another office location may be completely different. The pros for SF are: Casual environment. Attorneys and support staff generally work well together. Beautiful office with a gorgeous view. Bagels on Friday.

      Cons

      Not much room for advancement once you hit the paralegal level. Attorneys are not very good at managing people and underestimate the time it takes to complete tasks so it creates the impression. Attorneys are friendly and very approachable however they can be cliquey, tend to gossip, and waste time not working while deferring most of the work to the support staff.

      Pros

      Management is supportive of needs for time off or schedule adjustments due to family obligations. There are no billable hours requirements. Most employees are non-exempt, so overtime, when needed, is paid.

      Cons

      There is no 401(k) match, and compensation is on the low end for the industry.

      Decent place for a paralegal

      Pros

      The people are great, and they really know their stuff. Attorneys and paralegals work well together, even if there can be little support for junior members. Helping people. The pay is great. Interacting with people from all over the world.

      Cons

      The massive layoffs weren't fun. The work is very repetitive and can be stressful. Not much room for advancement without going to law school. The fluorescent lights are punishing, too.
