Pros

- Small and agile team that moves extremely fast - The team is not shy from trying and failing and is amazing at moving on to the next iteration - Company leadership is very inspiring and keeps the team motivated on the vision - High-caliber co-workers who are the best of the best in their field, abundant learning opportunities - Near total freedom to create and engineer the right solution for the problems at hand and push the boundaries of the tech stack - Engineering org has a rigorous first-principles problem-solving culture

Cons

- Scheduling and project planning can be overly optimistic at times - Flexibility of individual's work schedules can sometimes make it challenging to schedule reoccurring interdisciplinary meetings - Not many junior employees - senior folks have to be willing to work full-stack - Leadership often interfaces with investors and customers so have to be OK with being a squeaky wheel to get in front of execs when needed

Pros

- incredibly talented team that is mission-driven and committed to succeeding; phenomenal team players to be in the trenches with - exceptionally vertically-integrated operation puts you hands-on with hardware, software, and printed metal every day - continuously challenged; truly pushing the limits of metal additive manufacturing technology - very promising business opportunity and potential impact on multitude of applications, products, and industries - ownership and growth opportunities and ability to make an impact in company

Cons

(these characteristics are par for the course for a promising early-stage startup, and not a concern for the right people looking for this environment): - high-intensity / fast pace requires bringing your "A"-game daily - lack of established/defined processes requires continuously putting in extra effort and thought to trailblaze an uphill path - dynamic environment requires staying on your toes and being flexible - expectations are high; limited support for mediocre/underperformers and no tolerance of slacking; people on the team are hired to deliver the job at hand (not grow into it)

Can't ask for a better startup experience

Pros

I have learned and grown more in the past few years here than I likely did at all my previous companies combined. You get a ton of ownership here, have a major seat at the table in how things get done, and get to work alongside super bright, friendly people. I came to Freeform because I felt it had all the right elements to make for a successful startup/company = innovative/hard to copy tech, experienced leadership team, great investors, and huge market potential. After working here, I can say that my expectations have only been exceeded. Not only are all these ingredients in place, but the people are awesome and make the challenges associated with building a startup really enjoyable to solve. I can see how startup life might not be for everyone, but if it's something you're interested in, Freeform is the perfect place.

Cons

Being at an early stage startup has it's challenges. The expectations are high and you have be OK with building the plane as you fly it. Definitely takes a lot of effort and tenacity to be successful, but I think that's basically what you're signing up for when you join a startup that has audacious goals.
