Pros
I did route sales and the pay is like a salary around the mid 40K mark. I had a great group of guys to work with. My DSL was really good and laid back. I was allowed to manage my route for the most part. Great benefits in medical, dental, vision, 401k, stock, and pension plan. It started out really good.
Cons
Company is really starting to penny pinch. New pay system is crap. They give you numbers to make from last year, which is common to get a bonus. The bad thing is that if you don't hit plan they will take away the bonus, which is already being prorated so you can end up with a 200 dollar check. Even when it is raining or layoffs at companies, your plan goes unadjusted causing much grief. They have not made any plans on helping us on that part. We would even be shorted product that would cost us our bonus and no help on that part either. No real motivation to go over sales plan either. They will just bump up next months plan even more to make you have a loss. Upper management doesn't care about the front lines sales person anymore. It is all about their bottom line.
