Good engineering consultant with varied project portfolio

Pros

GEI does it all: environmental, civil, geotechnical, water resources, ecological. The projects are very interesting. There is definitely a path for success and training to get there.

Cons

The amount of billable work they ask out of midlevel staff is out of whack. Different types of engineering can be silo-ed in a way that does not maximize the skills of the company as a whole.

Employees are knowledgable and collaboration among people with diverse backgrounds and knowledge bases makes GEI a great place to grow your own professional experience. Work-life balance is always respected.

Cons

Career development for entry and mid level staff can be slow, but there has been a push to improve this.

Pros

Ideal for engineers and geologists who have worked or have insight working with government contracts. Nearly everyone is very nice and easy to work with.

Cons

Timekeeping and project management seems to be micromanaged at the lower levels only. Projects tended to be last minute, but I think often that could have been clients' fault.
